How Pilates began:

Joseph Pilates (1883–1967) was a German-born fitness pioneer who created the method we now call Pilates. As a sick child, he became determined to build strength and control through exercise, studying gymnastics, boxing and yoga. During World War I, he developed his system of precise, controlled movements to help rehabilitate injured soldiers. After the war he moved to New York, where dancers and athletes embraced his method for its focus on core strength, alignment and mindful breathing.
“Pilates is complete coordination of body, mind and spirit.” Joseph Pilates
BASI Pilates:
BASI Pilates (Body Arts and Science International) is a contemporary approach to Pilates that blends Joseph Pilates’ original principles with modern movement science. Founded in 1989 by Rael Isacowitz, BASI was created to honour the classical work while organising it into a clear, logical system for teaching and learning. The method focuses on precise, flowing exercises that build core strength, improve posture and support healthy, functional movement, and it is now taught in studios and training centres around the world.
The Power of Pilates:
I believe and know that Pilates can offer a sense of balance to daily life as well as in other forms of exercise / sport.
A mindful movement to create a sense of calm and better connection with your own body.
A time to focus on yourself and experience personalised led sessions.
It is known to be a complimentary form of exercise that is perfect for rehabilitation after injury or surgery, improving posture, building deep inner core strength and cross-training for other activities.
